Season 8 of Diablo 4 is finally live, and like many players, I’ve been eager to jump into the new seasonal content and start the grind toward endgame. After a lot of thought, research, and testing during the early days of the season, I finally locked in my starter class and built — and so far, the results have been incredible.
Here’s a breakdown of my Season 8 leveling strategy, my starter class, and the build that’s helping me tear through Sanctuary.
My Starter Class: Sorcerer
For Season 8, I chose to Diablo IV Gold  start with the Sorcerer. After all the buffs and new synergies introduced this season, Sorcerer felt like the perfect balance of speed, damage, and versatility. Sorcerers have always been strong levelers thanks to their devastating AoE skills, but with the new seasonal mechanics boosting certain elemental abilities, the class is in an even better spot right now.
The real deciding factor for me was flexibility: Sorcerers can adapt quickly depending on the gear they find, and they have some of the best movement options early on with skills like Teleport.
My Build: Chain Lightning Focus
For my build, I’m using a Chain Lightning-focused Sorcerer. This build has been shredding everything from low-level mobs to elite packs.
Here’s the core setup I’m using:
Main Damage Skill: Chain Lightning
Secondary Skills: Teleport (for mobility), Frost Nova (for crowd control), Ice Armor (for survivability)
Enchantments: Chain Lightning in one slot for bonus triggers, and Fireball as a secondary to trigger additional AoE explosions
The focus is simple: chain massive lightning strikes between enemies while keeping myself mobile and protected. Thanks to the natural bounces from Chain Lightning, I can wipe out groups even when they’re spread out. The synergy between my defensive skills and my damage output means I can survive tight spots without slowing down my kill speed.
Leveling Strategy
Rush Main Campaign & Key Side Quests: Early on, I’m prioritizing finishing the campaign quickly while grabbing side quests that grant significant Renown boosts.
Renown Farming: Renown rewards are crucial — the extra skill points and potion charges you unlock make leveling exponentially easier.
Dungeon Spamming: Targeting quick, dense dungeons for fast XP has been the key. Strongholds also offer big rewards early on.
Gear Prioritization: I’m constantly upgrading my weapon at the blacksmith to keep my damage output high. For armor, I'm mainly focusing on cooldown reduction and damage bonuses tied to Lightning skills.
Seasonal Mechanics: The seasonal event bonuses give extra mobility and power boosts, which fit perfectly into my fast-paced Sorcerer playstyle.
Final Thoughts
So far, starting Season 8 with the Sorcerer and a Chain Lightning build has been one of the best Diablo 4 experiences I’ve had yet. Leveling feels smooth, fast, and powerful, and the seasonal mechanics amplify what makes Sorcerers so fun to
Diablo 4 Items   play.
If you’re still deciding on your starter, I highly recommend giving this build a shot — it’s beginner-friendly, scalable into endgame, and an absolute blast to play live!
